Lara Jensen

With more than twenty years of trial litigation experience, Lara Jensen has acquired the skills necessary to solve some of the most complex cases, including serious personal injury and fatality cases, multi-party construction defect and payment disputes, insurance coverage and insurer bad faith disputes. She has applied meticulous preparation, hard work and tenacity to bring each case to a successful resolution.

She has represented businesses, individuals and policyholders in insurance coverage disputes to recover insurance proceeds for damage to buildings caused by hurricanes, defective construction work and/or other causes. For one client alone, Ms. Jensen recovered more than $1.6 million for damage to a large commercial roof caused by both Hurricane Isaac and defective construction work.*

In addition, she has represented insurers in coverage disputes, obtaining numerous summary judgments in their favor on the basis of no insurance coverage and/or no evidence of insurer bad faith. She has successfully obtained dismissals of insurers under Louisiana’s Direct Action Statute, and/or on the basis of the work product exclusions contained in a general liability policy, an insect exclusion contained in a homeowners’ policy, and the covered auto provisions of an uninsured/underinsured motorist auto policy.

While she has successfully settled many suits through mediation, she will not hesitate to prosecute a case through trial and post-trial appeals. For her efforts, she has previously been recognized as a Lawyer of Distinction.

Ms. Jensen graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado in 1991, with a Bachelors of Arts in History and Spanish with honors (Magna Cum Laude). She graduated from Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1995. She is admitted to practice in the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, and all Louisiana state courts. She has been a speaker at various insurance groups and at U.S. Naturalization ceremonies.

Ms. Jensen is an active member of the New Orleans metropolitan area community. She enjoys  volunteering for her church and previously enjoyed volunteering for local non-profits, including the Junior League of New Orleans and the Preservation Resource Center.
